September 2008– Matthew Brown has joined Schultz & Williams (S&W) as a senior consultant and brings 23 years of experience in communications, fundraising and strategic planning for both the private and nonprofit sectors to our firm. Prior to joining Schultz & Williams, Matt was director of development for the American Association of Museums (AAM) where he created and directed AAM’s first development department, managing the annual giving and major gifts programs, corporate and foundation relations and sponsorship sales. As part of AAM’s senior leadership team, Matt also participated in AAM’s long-range strategic planning process, new business development and marketing and communications efforts. During his tenure at AAM, Matt advised and assisted numerous museums, zoos, aquaria and other collections and experience-based institutions throughout the United States with their fundraising and strategic planning challenges. For nearly ten years prior to joining the nonprofit sector, Matt worked in the advertising business managing TV, radio, print and new media advertising for clients including PNC Corporation, The Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Club, Stouffer Foods and many more high profile corporations. Matt is a polished writer and speaker on nonprofit management, communications and fundraising and has been a guest speaker at conferences and professional gatherings throughout the United States. Matt is currently working out of Bethesda, Maryland and adds a tremendous resource to S&W’s clients in the Greater Washington, D.C. region. Most important, Matt’s planning, communications and fundraising experience brings a wealth of skill and expertise to the S&W team that will benefit our clients from every nonprofit sector across the country.
