The Frick Art and Historical Center

January 2009– Schultz & Williams is helping the Frick Art & Historical Center in Pittsburgh sustain momentum for its strategic master plan during these slowing economic times.

In July 2008, Schultz & Williams began preparing an extensive campaign plan for the Frick. This campaign plan was part of a deliberate and multi-phased process begun by the Frick five years ago that included a strategic plan, a master site plan, and a campaign planning/feasibility study that was conducted by Schultz & Williams in 2007. Based on our conversations with foundation leaders, donors, Board members, civic leaders, and senior management, Schultz & Williams defined the campaign objectives and structure, developed specific strategies for donors, established the campaign timetable, and evolved other critical elements of the campaign.

Amidst the backdrop of a dramatically declining economy, Schultz & Williams subsequently worked with the Board, the Director, and the Director of Development to identify and focus on specific elements of the plan that are essential steps in early 2009 given the current economic situation.

These elements will create a line of communications with key funders and donors to ensure that the Frick is in step with the Pittsburgh philanthropic community vis-à-vis the financial crisis. At the same time, a high-level cultivation process was put forward as the essential element to a successful campaign regardless of the timetable for it. Simultaneously, Schultz & Williams continued refining the Frick's case for support and began planning other essentials of the campaign to continue momentum and create sustained interest amongst the Pittsburgh community and the Frick leadership.

"While it’s important to stay focused on the long-term goals and objectives of this campaign, we must respond to the economic downturn with equal integrity and insight to ensure that the community stays engaged and informed through personal and frequent communication," said Cathy Card Sterling, Vice President of Schultz & Williams.
