Novemeber 2005 – L. Scott Schultz, President of Schultz & Williams, Inc., a full-service marketing and management consulting firm based in Philadelphia, received the 2005 Fundraising Executive of the Year Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Philadelphia Chapter at their 2005 National Philanthropy Day luncheon.

With 30 years of experience in fundraising, Schultz began his career as a legislative intern in the office of Representative Walter D. Fauntroy (D, District of Columbia). Later, as Assistant to the Mayor of Buffalo, NY, Schultz secured state and federal funding for various public projects. Drawn to the world of nonprofits, Schultz joined the Buffalo Zoo as Director of Development, where he coordinated long-range planning, communications, membership and fundraising. As Vice President for Marketing and Development at the Philadelphia Zoo from 1979 to 1987, Schultz was instrumental in helping America’s First Zoo become the most visited and widely supported cultural institution in the region.

Schultz frequently teaches non-credit courses on marketing, fundraising and nonprofit management at various universities and speaks on these topics at conferences and seminars. He served as President and Chair of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the National Society of Fund-Raising.

Executives (now the Association for Fundraising Professionals Greater Philadelphia Chapter), and he also serves on several area nonprofit boards.

With this award, Schultz &Williams is proud to have three Fundraising Executive of the Year Award winners on staff. Partner M. Jane Williams received the award in 1993 and Senior Associate Kathleen Watson was honored in 1996.
