Hogle Zoo
Salt Lake City, Utah
Client Challenge:
The Hogle Zoo faced a number of strategic and operational challenges. The Zoo’s leadership faced the pressure of deciding whether to re-locate the zoo or grow in its current location. It needed to clearly assess its options, impacts, and potential outcomes of these changes. While looking at the ‘big’ picture, the Zoo still needed to continue to improve its experience for the visitor while remaining sustainable and fiscally responsible.
Schultz & Williams Approach:
Schultz & Williams worked closely with Zoo leadership including the Director and the Board to evaluate all options from a financial, operational, visitor, and community impact perspective and managed the political process associated with the various alternatives. Our team partnered with the Zoo’s architectural and design firm to integrate facility design options with a realistic business model and strategic goals. Schultz & Williams provided on-going counsel to the Zoo’s staff and leadership on tactics to enhance and strengthen the visitor experience.
Results:
The Hogle Zoo has been a client for over five years and is an excellent
example of Schultz & Williams’s long-term approach to building
client relationships and working with organizations over time to meet their ever-changing needs. Our team developed an integrated business plan that facilitated the development of the Zoo’s facility master plan. We also created a strategic business model for the Zoo’s expansion plans to develop a joint development venue entitled Utah Trails. Schultz & Williams recently updated the Zoo’s five-year strategic plan and we continue to provide strategic counsel on an on-going basis.
