Carol A. Richter, Senior Consultant – Carol Richter has more than 20 years of fundraising and public relations experience. Her work in health care and education nonprofit organizations has involved strategic planning and the complete spectrum of fundraising, publications and public relations. Her experience in program development includes work with institutional boards, senior management and volunteers.

As Vice President for Development at Pennsylvania Hospital, Carol designed, built and staffed the development program from scratch. During her 14-year tenure at the Hospital, the major gifts program provided more than $25 million for various Hospital programs and buildings as well as for endowment. Carol was instrumental in creating and implementing the area’s first formal grateful patient solicitation program, and, under her direction, the Hospital received its single largest bequest, a $20-million gift. Prior to her position at Pennsylvania Hospital, Carol was Director of Development at Friends’ Central School, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of capital, annual and planned giving, alumni relations, public relations and publications. She built a successful program over five years, creating an award-winning publications/public relations program. She established a Development Committee of the Board and conceived and supervised a successful multi-million dollar bond issue for a new building. Carol began her career at the University of Pennsylvania where she was Regional Director of Undergraduate Admissions, a member of the University’s Selection Committee and Editor/Writer and Production Coordinator in the University’s Communications Office.

Carol has been a speaker at Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and at AFP conferences. She has taught continuing education courses at the University of Pennsylvania and has served on numerous volunteer committees and advisory boards. Carol is a graduate of Bennett College.
