Kathleen Wagner, Consultant – Kathy Wagner applies 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience to her role as a consultant for Schultz & Williams. Her areas of expertise include strategic planning, education programming, organizational development, meeting facilitation, grant writing, and program and exhibit evaluation for cultural institutions.

Kathy’s broad-based experience and her passion for conservation and education have helped S&W clients such as the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo/Cleveland Zoological Society, where she helped develop strategic plans that embrace the latest thinking from the international conservation community and integrate current research in conservation psychology. Kathy’s work also includes a business and master planning initiative for the Lake Superior Zoo, which brought S&W together with both an architecture firm and an interpretive design firm in an innovative process designed to help this newly privatized zoo realize its potential. Her visitor experience project with Fairmount Park Water Works Interpretive Center complements the firm’s long-term project with this Philadelphia treasure.

Prior to joining Schultz & Williams, Kathy served as VP for Conservation and Education at the Philadelphia Zoo. Under her leadership, the Zoo won numerous national awards for conservation and education programs. She has consulted with zoos, museums, botanical gardens and aquariums throughout the country and was instrumental in the development of the New Jersey State Aquarium (now Adventure Aquarium).

Kathy has published articles in BoardSource and Visitor Behavior and co-authored publications on family learning in Curator. Kathy has served on the boards of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Visitor Studies Association, Awbury Arboretum Association, New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences, and she was founding Chair of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center Advisory Board. A graduate of Bucknell University, Kathy has a master’s degree from Villanova University and a certificate in management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Kathy is also a recipient of the “Sarah Award” for Education, given by Women in Communications.
