Monica Winter, Senior Consultant – Monica Polowy Winter has over 35 years of experience in leadership roles in nonprofit administration, program development and fundraising in the arts, health care and basic sciences in academic and community-based settings. She has specialized expertise in foundation, corporate and major gifts fundraising for biomedical research and health care organizations, including hospitals and hospital systems.

Starting in 2002, following more than a decade as Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations at Philadelphia’s Wistar Institute, Monica has consulted for major hospital systems, biomedical research institutes and community organizations in the Philadelphia and Allentown regions. In this capacity she has conducted development assessments; established new individual and foundation giving programs; and secured major foundation support for programs and capital campaigns.

Monica remains grateful to many people in her home town of Buffalo, NY, for the mentoring and opportunities afforded her as she began her nonprofit career. Among these are serving as the first Executive Director of the Polish Community Center, Managing Director of the Creative Associates, a new music ensemble based at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and volunteer service on the Board of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, ARTPARK’s Program Advisory Council, Empire State College Advisory Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts’ Program Services Panel. She has also worked as the Managing Director of a multi-disciplinary arts research center at the University of California San Diego.

She attended undergraduate and graduate school at the State University of New York at Buffalo majoring in music and business administration, and has a certificate from the Harvard Institute in Arts Administration.
