Susan L. B. Scauzzo, Consultant – Susan Scauzzo, formerly Susan Brown, has more than twelve years of experience building relationships with high net worth individuals through her work with internationally recognized cultural and health care institutions. She brings to clients expertise in campaign execution, major gift fund-raising, cultivation strategy development, and volunteer and staff management.

During seven months as Interim Director of Major Gifts at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Susan turned around the productivity of the major gifts staff by re-organizing, making staff adjustments, and establishing new operational objectives for the staff. She also collaborated with other senior members of the development department to create and implement new prospect identification and tracking systems. In addition, Susan established new systems for endowment recognition and managed the transfer of the major gifts program to the incoming Director of Major Gifts.

Susan served as Director of Sustaining Fellows and Major Gifts at The Art Institute of Chicago where she oversaw the identification and cultivation of individual donors, and managed a portfolio of major gift prospects. She also worked closely with two volunteer committees and managed the re-organization of staff responsibility.

At The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Susan served as Director of Major Gifts and helped the hospital successfully complete its $110-million campaign. She brought in many new major donors and strengthened relationships with existing donors. Susan was also part of the development team that choreographed the recognition and celebration components of the completion of the campaign – a milestone in the hospital’s history and the largest campaign ever completed in support of a pediatric hospital.

Susan began her development career at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she managed the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activity for the high-end annual donor program. She worked closely with Museum trustees and increased support annually, exceeding all fiscal goals.

In 1998, Susan co-chaired National Philanthropy Day organized by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals. She received her certificate in fund raising from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Temple University.
