L. Scott Schultz, President – While building a successful career in development, marketing and government service, Scott Schultz envisioned a non-traditional consulting firm to help nonprofit organizations meet their distinctive challenges. In 1987, Scott founded his company on the philosophy that development, marketing and management must be pursued collectively in order to achieve institutional goals. Today, Schultz & Williams has turned this philosophy into a successful business model that provides strategic and innovative solutions to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the nation.

Scott began his career in Washington, D.C as a legislative aide in the office of Representative Walter Fauntroy (D, District of Columbia) and continued his public service as Assistant to the Mayor of Buffalo, New York, where he was responsible for the acquisition of state and federal assistance to support community and economic development. Scott left government service to work as Director of Development for the Buffalo Zoological Society, and from 1979 to 1987, he served as Vice President for Marketing and Development at the Zoological Society of Philadelphia. During his tenure, Scott was responsible for all aspects of contributed and earned income and experienced firsthand the value of integrating the powerful functions of management, marketing and development in order to maximize success. Under Scott’s leadership, the Zoo became the most visited and widely supported cultural institution in the region.

Scott is an active speaker on marketing, fundraising and nonprofit management. He has taught non-credit courses on these subjects for universities and colleges throughout the region. He was named Fundraising Executive of the Year in 2005 by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is recognized by the American Marketing Association, Who's Who in Sales and Marketing, and Who's Who in the East. Scott did both his undergraduate and graduate work at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
